A city of Sikhs
A punctual lot
Hard working
and jolly
intellectual
with humor
not all
some even wrathful
though most are pleasant
and always well groomed
maybe vain
loving photography
and often armed

View from our room beneath the temple
Where Rinpoche reads
and reads
and contemplates
deeply!
Norbu Tsering cares for us
and friends visit
from different parts
Many friends
Friends from youth in Tibet
And we visit friends…
The view can get foggy in monsoon
We don’t go out much
Enjoying the world within our little room
a simple world
With modern touches
And then I go south… to Delhi
with its art
and ancient ruins
and open street life
where the young rests while elders play
I visit friends
see the view from their new home
And then to Rato
Where Suresh celebrates new eye sight
Our monks delight in freedom from monsoon retreat
and I escape to Hubli
before returning to enjoy my evening view of nature
A quiet town Rajasthan
where animals roam
and humans observe
as do wise goats
Banyan trees give gravitas
and bulls, their blessings
monkeys delight
as do humans
Yes, all are welcome in Samod
where children are schooled
and water is pure
news is followed
and cricket practiced
The holy man watches over his flock
who carry out their ablutions
under the gaze of wise peacock
life is laid back in Samod
The Wind Palace, from where court women view street life without it viewing them
non court woman leaving street
while man braces to face its challenges
selling tools to smoothen street movement
A place to meet along the street
and have a cup of tea while engine is repaired
and play a hand
or watch a film
or welcome holy Brahma
convertibles and motorcycles always add excitement
for young viewers
not ready for life’s true challenges
Good night Jaipur
