The Grand Old Delhi Avenue has been cleared of motor vehicles

New seating has been installed

and sleeping areas

though some make their own arrangements

basking in morning sunlight

stretching

then a prayer

and to work!

Not all feel so inclined

At the end of the avenue is Fatehpuri Masjid

nails are kept short

elders discuss

pigeons perform

and then a paratha

straight from the oven

before setting off again

A stop at the Khadi Bhavan for hand loom cloth

life there stands still

accounts are done the old way

Next door a Jain library that has no books

the director naps

then back to the street

where money exchanges

and the pace picks up

Shopping takes place on side streets

it’s intense

productive

Always time for a cup of tea

leisurely enjoyed

and the movement resumes

the trick is to create our own peace within
